The Akrug Aquatic Club, formerly known as Pioneers Aquatic Club, is based in Wayne, NJ on the campus of William Paterson University.  Head Coach Ed Gurka started the Akrug Alligators in 1984 as a way for local kids to learn to swim and develop a love for the sport of swimming.  As the Head Coach for the William Paterson University Swim and Dive Team,  he reached over 700 overall victories in his 40th season in 2016.  He’s coached 16 All-Americans, 11 of which have earned entry into the William Paterson University Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame.  Coach Ed coached the first sprinter in NCAA History to win the 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m Freestyle during one National Championship Swim Meet.
